Tigernix Meets the Water Experts from Portugal with SWA

Mr. Gowrishankar, CEO of Tigernix, had the honour of presenting a live demo of Tigernix’s Smart and Integrated Water Suite to Engineer Alexandra and the President of Águas de Portugal, namely Professor António, during a delegate visit arranged by the Singapore Water Association (SWA) on March 14, 2025, at SgWX in Singapore.

About 80% of Portugal’s population is served by the water supply and wastewater systems that are designed, built, and maintained by Águas de Portugal (AdP). This government-owned company was established in 1993.  Operating through a collection of 12 firms, AdP has a strong infrastructure network and employs over 3,000 people. It has also built a presence abroad, working on projects in countries like Brazil, Mozambique, and Angola.

Under the theme “Digital transformation of operations,” the conversation centred on the difficulties Portugal’s water industry faces and emphasised Singapore’s proficiency in overcoming these obstacles via digital innovation.  Mr. Gowrishankar, who was invited as a major contributor, gave a brief 15-minute talk outlining how Tigernix has used digital solutions to transform water management concerns, in addition to sharing his expert opinion.  Among the main subjects discussed were:

  • Employing digital tools to boost efficiency, overall monitoring, and end-to-end management across the water supply system laid over towns, cities and states.
  • Deploying energy-saving operations and using digital technologies for decarbonisation in water management.
  • Welcoming circular economy practices to optimise resource recovery.
  • Reduce NRW and increase water-use efficiency by utilising tried-and-true methods and readily deployable technologies.
  • Enhance water systems’ resilience by combining conventional methods with cutting-edge flood and pressure containment strategies made to last.

SWA organised the delegation tour to elaborate on the local expertise, versed in recent water and wastewater innovations, and to identify joint ventures in areas like digitising operations, cutting carbon footprints, and reusing water more efficiently between Portugal and Singapore. The fellow guests examined local pilot programmes and experimented with the latest software and hardware. Some presenters showcased mobile dashboards, while others modelled treatment cycles to help understand the intricacies of water management. Mr Gowrishankar enabled hands-on demos that illustrated how fresh perspectives can reconfigure business-as-usual; such model exchanges align well with Singapore’s tech-rich water cluster and present clear collaboration pathways with our software and utilities firms.
